Arts & Recreation in the Moore County Region

If you think Dumas has Western flavor – you’re right. We are proud of the colorful cowboy heritage that resonates in our warm hospitality, sense of adventure, art and traditions. If it isn’t found in Dumas, then it is probably only a short drive away! From an Art Center to a Zip Line, Cadillac Ranch to Lake Meredith folks are always finding new events and activities for our community to experience. There never seems to be a weekend that doesn’t have some event occurring, and the kids have more to do than they have time.

Our vacations can take us to beautiful locations in our own community, or to mountains within 3 hours drive. The festivals are great, the people are fun and the only thing preventing folks from finding enough to do is their own refusal to get up! Whether you prefer to be in the stands or on the field, Dumas has numerous opportunities to work up a sweat and get dirty! From mud volleyball to cricket, we are sure to have some activity to get you up and out!

The primary goal of the Dumas EDC is to promote planned & diversified growth & the creation of new jobs, while maintaining and enhancing the area’s quality of life. To accomplish this, the Dumas EDC is tasked with developing proactive initiatives in the retention and expansion of existing business, the recruitment of targeted business, the “economic gardening” of business through cooperation and assistance and in the end, the retention of our youth through job creation and advancement.

The Dumas EDC engages in various efforts and partnerships focusing on anything that will create a vibrant community and meet the needs of our local businesses. Identifying and developing emerging growth opportunities, and strengthening the competitiveness and innovation of our existing companies is an integral part of our mission.

Dumas EDC is supported by a Board of Directors that represents both private sector businesses and public sector partners. Our work to create a competitive environment that attracts new business and jobs is backed by a half-cent sales tax voted and approved by our supportive community. Dumas EDC is a responsible steward of the funds we receive and provide these dollars to programs and projects that will insure a beneficial return on investment for the community.
